Simple Summer Time Dress

It's getting hot, hot, hot outside! With warm weather come sun dresses. I just love little girls in pretty dresses. Don't you?

After weeding through Sophia's closet, she only has two other dresses for summer that fit. So not enough. Everything in her world is about dresses, tights, and leggings right now.  Let's hope she gets over tights fast with how hot it is now.

I've had this fabric by Amy Butler for over a year now. I feel in love with it the first time I saw it.  Problem is, it just does not go with anything but white. Hence why it has not been used yet. Lucky for Sophia it made a gorgeous dress!

I did three rows of sheering at the top and one row about 4 inches lower.  This created the empire waist. In the back I made one large box pleat. This gives the dress more detail and flow. The straps are simple ties, made from the same fabric.

Always being silly.

Thing 1 Thing 2 Gift Idea for Twins

A gal pal in my mom's group is having twins soon and our group threw her a little sprinkle (mini shower). They do not know the sex of the twins so I needed to make something gender neutral. I decide to make he a little bib set with the theme of Dr. Seuss twins, Thing 1 and Thing 2.  I have a few little tweaks to make but, for the most part I think they turned out pretty cute.

Congratulations Donna and family!

What do you think?

Bathroom Towel Redo

This is a total drab to fab project! I've had the same bathroom towels for years. They are cream and just plain boring.

If you follow my blog you know I'm all about using what you have and bringing new life to old items. I stored away a tablecloth that I bought for $7 on clearance at TJ Max (I LOVE this store). I knew it would never be use for my table as it is way to large but, the design is beautiful and warm and who could pass on that price.

Here is the tablecloth.

Hot Chocolate Winter Top

I find inspiration form all over. I found these holiday ornaments and thought that mug of coco would be adorable on a winter top for Sophia.

I LOVE IT!!!

Here is the little tutorial.

You will need three different colors of felt.  One (your choice in color) for the mug, brown or tan for the hot chocolate and white for the whipped cream.
Matching thread and a sewing machine.

I found a photo online of a tea/coffee cup and cut it out to use it as a template.

Stitch on the chocolate part.

Then add the whipped topping.

On to the flower. I used my sewing machine to make the design. If yours does not embroider you can make a simple flower by hand.

I added the stitching on the bottom of the mug with just a needle and thread.

Place and pin to shirt then baste around the edges of the mug.

Your done!!

Recycled Sweater Mittens

I HATE being cold as I have a hard time warming back up. I'm one of those who would rather be hot than cold any day!

The weather here is starting to get cold and winter is right around the corner. Boo....at least I can cheer myself up with new mittens! I made these from an old sweater that I already recycled into a pillow. I kept the sleeve for later projects. Mittens!

It was really simple and fast to do. Here's my little tutorial.

Start off by tracing your hand and about two inches of you wrist. Round the upper edges to be even and match. Then cut it out.

Grab your sleeve.

With sleeve turned inside out lay your template down and pin in place.

Notice what I've done with the thumb. I cut a deeper slit down and folded the thumb in just a little.

Here is the thumb folded and pinned so you can see what I meant. Note: you will cut down into the deeper slit.

Pin sides and stitch closed.

Tada!!

Finished pair.

Dress for Amelia

Do you remember this post with the dresses I made for the Sophia's party? Well Sophia's mom and my friend Sarah, LOVED the dress so much that she had me make a matching pint-sized one for baby Amelia. Their family will be having  photo's taken soon and I can wait to see and post the girls in their matching dresses.

Fun Fall Top

The weather is still nice and warm but I'm starting to think fall. I fell in LOVE with this pattern Simplicity 2711 and the fabric from Brother Sister Design studios. It was pretty easy to follow, my one remark would be that the armholes are a little small. I love all the details from ruffles to pin-tuck! I left off the flutter sleeves as Sophia is so petite, she looked like she was getting ready for take-off. She can just throw on a cute little sweater for those cool days to come.

What a goof, notice her little toung sticking out in almost all the pictures.

Tic-Tac-Toe Bean Bag Toss Game

It's Birthday time around here again! Today we have my Niece Emma's 4th Birthday party. I wanted to make her something fun and personalized that she will enjoy for years to come. So I came up with this      Tic-Tac-Toe game played with bean bags.
