Hot Chocolate Winter Top

I find inspiration form all over. I found these holiday ornaments and thought that mug of coco would be adorable on a winter top for Sophia.

I LOVE IT!!!

Here is the little tutorial.

You will need three different colors of felt.  One (your choice in color) for the mug, brown or tan for the hot chocolate and white for the whipped cream.
Matching thread and a sewing machine.

I found a photo online of a tea/coffee cup and cut it out to use it as a template.

Stitch on the chocolate part.

Then add the whipped topping.

On to the flower. I used my sewing machine to make the design. If yours does not embroider you can make a simple flower by hand.

I added the stitching on the bottom of the mug with just a needle and thread.

Place and pin to shirt then baste around the edges of the mug.

Your done!!

Holiday Twirl Skirt

Another check off my homemade holiday gifts check list! I made two of these sweet skirts, one for my niece Emma and one for Sophia. Emma will receive hers in the mail early so the girls can match at our family Christmas party and pictures.

I use the Edith Twirl Skirt pattern. For all the little details the skirt has it was really easy and simple pattern to fallow.

Sophia and I love how they turned out!

Holiday Crayon Idea

I've started making my gifts for Christmas and one of my projects is a fun stocking stuffer. We are always in need of new crayons in this house. Why not turn ordinary crayons in to fun holiday shapes! What you need is 6 box's of 8 count crayons. Silicone molds and an oven set to 350 degrees.

Start by peeling the paper off the crayons. I used a exacto knife to cut a line strait down the paper to make the peeling easier and faster.

I was able to find help at a cheap price, candy!

Fill the molds with about three crayons each.

Put in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for about 6-8 min. Just keep checking on them to see if they have melted all the way.

let them sit and cool for about an hour until they are completely cold. If you try to remove them while the slightest bit warm they will break and you will have to re-heat.

Finished and bundled up with a bow for their stockings!

Recycled Sweater Mittens

I HATE being cold as I have a hard time warming back up. I'm one of those who would rather be hot than cold any day!

The weather here is starting to get cold and winter is right around the corner. Boo....at least I can cheer myself up with new mittens! I made these from an old sweater that I already recycled into a pillow. I kept the sleeve for later projects. Mittens!

It was really simple and fast to do. Here's my little tutorial.

Start off by tracing your hand and about two inches of you wrist. Round the upper edges to be even and match. Then cut it out.

Grab your sleeve.

With sleeve turned inside out lay your template down and pin in place.

Notice what I've done with the thumb. I cut a deeper slit down and folded the thumb in just a little.

Here is the thumb folded and pinned so you can see what I meant. Note: you will cut down into the deeper slit.

Pin sides and stitch closed.

Tada!!

Finished pair.

Trick or Treat

Did you have fun with your little ones? We did! It was a lot of fun taking the kids around the neighborhood and watching the excitement on their faces. Even Maxon (18 months) was reaching in grabbing candy and saying thank you!

The real deal (life)!

Sophia, was sweet Princess Jasmine.
